My body is having an off day so I decided it was best to stay home and prepare my supplies for Open Studios and my Fabric Postcard workshops for Create On The Spot! next week at Quilt Festival/Cincinnati. (Much, much more on that tomorrow!)
Problem was, this past year I have downsized from a sizable studio into a 10′ x 10′ guest bedroom space, and frankly, I just haven’t created much at all because I can’t ever find anything! So today, I started to expand my studio into other parts of my house in efforts to get organized.
Here’s an instance of that…
Before:
And after:
Fabric trumps food.
That is awesome! A much better use of space I am sure. It just means you need to eat out more. Why bother with cooking when you can be creating art. 😉
These shelves are sparse in my book….& by the way…I dont see any fabric!
NICE! 🙂 I see all of the supplies there to create beautiful fabric!
I like the way you stacked the dyes so you can see the color in the jar. good thinking.
Thanks Robbi, I am so glad I did this, I can finally see all of them for the very first time…
I’m sorry but it freaks me out on a primal level to see Procion MX dyes and supplies in a kitchen!
Tina, the dyes were in my kitchen in a drawer…but I moved them all the way across my hall into the pantry, and moved the food from my pantry into my kitchen cabinets, so actually this is the safest all around!
Of course a Smartie like you would be safe about dyes … I still got (but am over) the creeps. smile/
Great organization! Who needs that much Italian dressing anyway? My husband calls me human kudzu, because I took over my daughter’s bedroom when she left home, and now my supplies have crept into my boys’ closets (yes, that’s plural), as well as our spare bedroom closet. I’m sure this happens at night when I’m sleeping!
I have expanded my studio to almost the whole house!
Sew, cut in the great room.
The design wall moves wherever it is most convenient as I work.
Iron in one guest room and keep all fabrics, notions and sewing supplies I’m not currently using in the closet and dressers in there.
Have extra sewing machines in second guest room closet.
Have a few bins of fabrics, art paper stuff, and clay in master bedroom closet.
I dye fabric in the garage where there is water, wash tubs and fresh air with the door up.
Often there is fabric drying on the patio or the grass.
So far the bathrooms and most of the kitchen cupboards are safe!
Forgot to say I paint fabric on the lanai!
You really do have your priorities straight!
This is wonderful! Can’t think of a better use for a pantry. Enjoy it and makes lots!
Dear Pokey, I agree and bet your mom does too…. bonnie
